bad bolt There is ‘that one bolt’ which extends a simple job in regard time, dirt, and resources… ONE stupid bolt. You know those?!

So I did a brake job on my Multistrada Enduro Pro, because ‘Indy’ was missing braking power, which is already restricted with those knobby tires. The plan: New brake fluid and bleeding air- new pads and cleaning caliper pistons- and 2 new rotors.

Coach's street rideWhile everything else went well, the rotor bolts are glued in the wheel, and I knew that was coming. Some manufacturers also make it harder by using bolts you’d need Torx tools for. I have, but those are really fragile. One after another coming off, not without a fight though… a bleeding finger and a trip to the hardware store for a new set of Torx tools is what that took. Then there is that one bolt. Out by a quarter and a destroyed head.

“MacGyver mode” is on now, as well as a never surrender mind set. Not enough meat to grab it with clamp pliers. Not enough out to saw its dead head off. Figuring that those cheap bolt removal tools you can buy with those TV commercials are senseless. Drilling the head was next, but the next half size bigger hexa did the job after hammering it in as much as possible. Then turning it as straight and smooth as possible got it finally out.

Four f’n hours and a garage floor covered with dirt, tools, sweat and blood for that one bolt :-)

Coach Tip: Heating up glued in bolts helps too.

After a long fight I finally have news for ya’ll. This hit us extremely hard after losing 9 classes already. The San Joaquin County is the problem and they will keep the lockdown on our track until July (that’s at least the good news).
As you know- time window for refunds is closed, but as I promised ya’ll will be transferred so that at least you guys have no losses. This is a pain in itself because there is only one more weekend scheduled for this year. I NEED YOU TO RESPOND to my email ASAP if you want us to transfer you there (Oct 17-18). As these dates fill up (first come- first serve!!!), I will create 3 additional dates for 2021 for you to pick. Please keep in mind though, that these new dates are ‘temporary’ and can change (going to be confirmed around Jan/Feb).
Nobody is more hurt about all this than me folks, and I am sorry that you have to go through this. But I also deeply hope you see what Superbike-Coach is all about… to help, to teach, and to have a hell of a time.
If you’d like to support our ‘comeback’, please have a look at the ‘Help us to help you’ fundraiser gf.me/u/x2i2g5

Virus info in case you’re looking into our classes:

All of our classes are going, unless we call it off for a reschedule because of rain or we all turned to Zombies. Your risk to catch this while you are on the hunt for toilet paper or in a Costco line is way bigger. If you have virus symptoms… please stay home and get better. Other than that…

We’re outside, riding bikes on our track, and we’re young

We are happy to announce that Wiseco came back to the Superbike-Coach Corp as a sponsor. This is fundamental for our fleet because just to know to know we have these guys backing us up with their high end quality pistons and parts gives us confidence. Pistons, titanium valves, clutch plates and much more to maintain our school bikes.

In 1940 Clyde Wiseman ventured into his garage on the East Side of Cleveland, Ohio and began producing pistons for himself and a few friends. Word of his high quality work spread quickly, and in 1941 Wiseco Piston was established to service the needs of motorsports enthusiasts.

This is great news. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) launched the new Get Up to Speed on Motorcycles campaign to help motorists understand standard motorcycle driving behaviors and to learn how to drive safely around motorcycles.

Motorcyclists accounted for 14 percent of all traffic fatalities while motorcycles make up just 3 percent of all registered vehicles in the United States. Motorcyclists are about 27 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to die in a motor vehicle crash, and 5 times more likely to be injured.

The NHTSA has some general suggestions on how to stay save on public roads:

  • Slow down, assess your surroundings, and don’t rush when crossing intersections, entering the roadway from a parking lot or driveway, or turning left. Always give yourself enough time to thoroughly check for motorcyclists.
  • When turning left, ensure there is enough time and space for the motorcyclist to clear the roadway before you initiate the left turn.
  • Don’t follow motorcyclists too closely and allow sufficient braking cushion between your vehicle and the motorcycle in front of you to give your vehicle enough room to come to a complete stop without a collision. Remember, a motorcyclist’s brake lights might not always be engaged when a motorcycle decelerates.
  • Always double-check your blind spots when changing lanes or starting to entering or exiting the roadways. Adjust your rear- and side-view mirrors and use them properly.
  • If someone you know drives a motorcycle, tell him or her to always wear a helmet—even if the law doesn’t require it. According to NHTSA, an estimated 740 lives could have been saved if all motorcyclists had worn helmets.

I think that this is just a fraction of what you could do better as a rider. Isn’t it?!
